DATE OF BIRTH: UNKNOWN DATE OF PASSING: JANUARY 18, 2000 Bear came into my life a few years ago, our family had to go to Sacramento Shriners Hospital for medical treatment as our son Loren was burned severely, while in Sacramento my Husbands Brother came up to take us to his house for the weekend before surgery, that is where Bear lived, he seemed to know that my son was injured, he took special care of Loren, you could see it in his eyes that Bear understood not to play too rough with him even though Loren was playing rough. At the end of the weekend Bear became a great friend to Loren. All Loren could talk about was Bear during his 2 week stay in the hospital. As the years past Bear slowly slipped from Loren's mind along with ours knowing that he was very well taken care of and loved. Then a few months ago I got a call from my Brother in-law wanting to know if we could dog sit for a few months, we were over joyed, with the thought that we could reunite Loren and Bear, our only fear was he going to get along with our Dog tiger?? I was so silly for that thought, they got along so good! Tiger was able to teach a city slicker like Bear all the fine things that a country dog can do like swimming in the creek, and running in the pasture. The few months that he was here Bear grew closer to us and to our Tiger they were inseparable until the puppies arrived, Bear was forced to move into the adjoining dog house, all he did was howl he was so lonely for his new friend. Then his Daddy finally came home to him, I have never seen the joy in a dogs eyes as I did that day, Both of them were so happy to finally be together again. As the summer came into full heat so did Bears attitude he was missing Tiger, I had to put her to sleep after her puppies were weaned due to an emotional problem. Bear was always breaking his chain so he could go find his Tiger, every female dog he smelled he headed out to her with the hopes that it was his Tiger but he never found her. His journeys became more frequent and longer the whole family was getting more and more worried about him. He would disappear for hours sometimes over night. He did always came back to his house when he was tired or hungry. Except for last night. The call came in about 8:30 this morning with a person saying that they seen our precious Bear laying alongside the highway. The dog we all knew and loved was gone from our lives but not from our hearts, he was such a special dog, Loving, Caring, was always there for you when you needed a hug. Bear we will miss you your extended family |
